The Super Mario Kart Championships Archive was created with the primary goal of bringing together PAL and NTSC SMK (Live) Championship results. By combining records, rankings, and statistics in a single place, it aims to make the rich history of the competitive Super Mario Kart scene more accessible to everyone.

This archive is not intended to replace the existing (PAL) SMK Championships Database at smkchampionships.org. That site remains an invaluable resource for the community and continues to offer many features that are beyond the scope of this project, including links to match videos, rivalry pages, and much more. The two projects complement each other, and this archive would not exist without the work that came before it.

A special thank you

A special thank you goes to the many people whose efforts made the collection and preservation of this data possible:

  • The (PAL) SMK Championships Database, with particular thanks to ScouB for his years of dedication to documenting the competitive scene.
  • MeridianPrime for creating and maintaining extensive historical spreadsheets and records of SMK Championships since 2008.
  • Azumag-san for developing the modern online SMK Championships scoring system introduced at JSMKC26.
  • The Kartel and its contributors for preserving ASMKC results and historical tournament data through their spreadsheets and archives.

Special thanks must also be given to Franck Mazières, whose vision and initiative led to the creation of the very first Super Mario Kart Championship in 2002. Without that pioneering effort, none of what followed would have been possible.

The community—and by extension this archive—owes a debt of gratitude to every tournament organizer who has carried the torch over the years. Through their dedication, more than two decades of tournaments, matches, rivalries, memorable moments and lasting friendships have been made possible.

Finally, a big thank you to the Super Mario Kart community itself. The passion, camaraderie, competitiveness, and enduring enthusiasm of its players are the reason this history exists and the reason it is worth preserving.

This archive is dedicated to everyone who has contributed to the story of competitive Super Mario Kart, past, present, and future.

Constructive corrections and additional historical information are always welcome and help ensure that the archive continues to improve.

Looking Ahead

I hope to continue expanding the archive over time with additional features, including individual match results, bracket visualizations, and other historical statistics.

That said, I cannot promise anything when it comes to reconstructing the infamous triple-elimination brackets used during the early ASMKCs…
